Casterton Vinnies

On Tuesday 31st October, the Casterton Branch of St. Vincent de Paul held their South West Regional AGM at Sacred Heart Primary School Casterton. The school’s Mini Vinnies joined their meeting for half an hour to  pray about the needs of others and for all who serve others. During the meeting, the Mini Vinnies leaders  spoke  about  their Annual Swagtember Fundraiser and presented a gift voucher to Casterton Vinnies for the purchase of ‘one street swag’ for a homeless person who may pass through town.

The School Community Advisory Council catered for their lunch, which included a two course meal. Special thanks to Sally Goodwin who prepared the meals and her band of trusty helpers who served the meals and cleaned up. By all reports, the meal was delicious.

At the conclusion of the Vinnies Regional Meeting, the Mini Vinnies students interviewed the Vinnies about their volunteer work and what inspires them  to  give up their time for Vinnies. This interview  task was part of the required work that these students were expected to complete in Religious Education for the Missions Topic.

Also on Tuesday afternoon, the students from both classes ran activities for each other including a Coin Toss, Making a Coin Map of Australia, balancing a coin on their nose whilst negotiating an obstacle course and a Heads and Tails game. All students were asked to donate a coin, small or large for each activity they had a go at. Students dressed in their casual clothes for the cost of a gold coin donation. In total they raised $233.10. What an awesome effort.
