Busking for Justice

Anna Haintz, a Year Eight student at Damascus College Ballarat, chose to put her talents on show to raise funds for Project Compassion. In just a few hours she collected over $75 to go towards Damascus’s contribution to the Caritas collection. 

Scholarships/Grants for Lay people

The Union of the Catholic Apostolate is offering scholarships/studygrants to enable lay people to further their understanding and skills in leadership/ministry or a specialised activity which is consistent with UAC aims and objectives.

A word from the Diocese’s newest Catholic School

Commencing a new Catholic Primary School must be the greatest privilege a teacher could experience in her or his career and with the commencement of Emmaus, the newest Catholic primary school has come an enormous pride and genuine satisfaction.  On January 30th twenty one children started school at Emmaus on a temporary site.  

Only 139 Days to Go!

With 139 days until the start of World Youth Day 2008 and over 200 pilgrims registered to attend with the Ballarat Diocese, now’s the time to get organized and be prepared. With this in mind, 25 people representing 18 parishes gathered in Halls Gap for a WYD leadership weekend.

Rite of Election

The Rite of Election was held at 11.00am on the 9th February at St Patrick's Cathedral, Ballarat. The Rite of Election is an important stage in the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults. Those to be received into the Church at Easter are presented to the Bishop for membership in the Church.  There were 25 catechumens and candidates.  They gathered with the RCIA teams from their respective parishes, their sponsors and godparents.
