The Diocesan Women’s Council of Ballarat has been formed in order to liaise between the Bishop and the women and men of the Diocese of Ballarat with particular regard to issues affecting women in the Diocese.

The Diocesan Women’s Council will:

  • be a contact point for the national Office for the Participation of Women (OPW) for the promotion and support of national initiatives to/from women of the Ballarat Diocese
  • encourage and support local initiatives for the participation of women within the Ballarat Diocese
  • encourage effective communication networks for women across the Ballarat Diocese
  • listen to the women of the Ballarat Diocese with respect to their issues, concerns and hopes for the future of their Church
  • offer regular annual opportunities for women of the Ballarat Diocese for ongoing dialogue and development of ideas and of faith
  • liaise with the Bishop regarding all of these matters
