Looking Forward 1

Looking Forward - a process of preparing now for the future

The Looking Forward Pastoral Planning process continued throughout 2017. Initiated in 2013 by Bishop Paul Bird and the Bishop's Advisory Council, the Looking Forward process assists parishes and church communities to understand and meet the challenges of the future, through resources, information, gatherings, and consultation.
Meetings were held in parishes in some areas of the diocese in 2016 & 2017 to share updated information and to further develop the discussions started in the larger Gatherings of 2014 and 2015. Thank you to everyone who participated in these Gatherings.

For more information contact Amanda Smith 5337 7125 or

The Looking Forward Resource document is still very relevant to discussion and reflection about pastoral planning.

Pope Francis The Joy of the Gospel:

The parish is the presence of the Church in a given territory,
an environment for hearing God’s word,
for growth in the Christian life,
      for dialogue, proclamation,
      charitable outreach,
      worship and celebration.
In all its activities the parish encourages and trains its members
      to be evangelisers.
It is a community of communities,
      a sanctuary where the thirsty
      come to drink
in the midst of their journey,
and a centre of constant missionary outreach.
