Parish News

On Sunday, October 26, 2025 St Joseph’s Charlton, now part of East Wimmera Parish, will celebrate 140 years since its establishment as a parish. Following 10.30am Mass at St Joseph’s, there will be a luncheon for attendees.

The first Catholic Church in Charlton was built in 1875. In 1885 the Charlton Mission was established and St Joseph’s became a parish. St Joseph’s continued as a separate parish until 2018 when the Catholic parishes communities of Wycheproof, Nullawil, Birchip, Donald, Charlton, Wedderburn, Boort, St Arnaud and Banyena, combined to create a new parish, now called East Wimmera Parish.
