The St Patrick’s Day lunch at St Patrick’s College Ballarat on March 17 was a wonderful celebration of friendship, community and connection.  More than 110 Old Collegians, their partners and friends of SPC gathered in the OCA Pavilion on Tuesday, sharing stories, laughter and good company. In addition to celebrating the spirit of St Patrick’s Day, the lunch recognised the Class of 1966’s 60-year reunion and the Class of 1976 50-year anniversary. Thanks to the Peter Howley for welcoming his Class of 1966 cohort, Simon Grigg for greeting members of his Class of 1976, and guest speaker John Larkins (SPC 1961-67), who recounted many fond memories of his time as a boarder.

We were also very blessed to welcome Bishop Paul Bird CSsR to the College to celebrate our St Patrick’s Day Mass — one of his final official duties as the Bishop of Ballarat before his retirement later that week.

As Patron of the College, his presence made the celebration especially meaningful as we reflected on the spirit of St Patrick and the faith that continues to guide our community. It was also a special opportunity to thank Bishop Paul for his years of service, leadership and support of St Patrick’s College. We are deeply grateful for his friendship with our community and wish him every blessing in retirement.
