During the Season of Creation, the St Mary’s Primary School Swan Hill community was invited to pause, reflect and give thanks for the wonderful gift of creation and consider how they can play our part in caring for our common home.
The theme for the 2026 Season of Creation is “Living Water,” with the focus “Immersion in Living Water.” This theme invites us to recognise water as a precious gift that gives life to people, animals, plants and entire ecosystems. Within our Catholic tradition, water also holds deep meaning as a symbol of life, renewal, hope and our connection with God.
Here in Swan Hill, this theme has particular meaning for our community. The Murray River is an important part of our local environment, community and story. It provides a wonderful opportunity for students to reflect on the importance of water, our connection to country and our shared responsibility to protect and care for the waterways and environments around us.
Throughout the Season of Creation, students were encouraged to notice the beauty of the natural world, ask questions, reflect on their own relationship with creation and consider the small actions they can take to make a difference.
As a school community, the theme of “Living Water” inspired us to be grateful for the gift of water, to recognise how deeply connected we are to creation and to work together to care for our common home – now and for generations to come.
