“What does it mean to live the Gospel in a time of social division?” That was the challenge at the heart of this year’s DOBCEL Staff Formation program, when staff gathered on September 30 – October 1 to reflect on the theme, “Walking Paths of Peace Together.”
In his opening keynote, Bishop Mark Freeman invited participants to embrace a culture of encounter by listening deeply to others, especially those whose experiences differ from our own, with compassion, understanding and solidarity. His message set the tone for two days of reflection, learning and conversation, encouraging staff to be builders of peace in their workplaces, schools and communities.
Grounded in the 2026 Bishops’ Social Justice Statement, the staff workshops reaffirmed DOBCEL’s commitment to fostering connection, understanding and hope through faith-filled leadership and action.
