We were blessed with a beautiful spring morning for our annual Parish Mass of Remembrance held on Sunday, November 10, 2024 to remember those we have lost and love who lay at rest in the Pootilla (Bungaree) Cemetery.

A lone piper plus our very talented local musicians – Mary Slater, Majella Muller, Kaylene Rumler and Pat Prendergast – made the Mass even more special with their wonderful music and singing.

Fr Justin Driscoll celebrated the Mass for the many parishioners and visitors who came to remember family and friends.

At the end of Mass, a plaque was unveiled and blessed to acknowledge the Common and Unknown Graves. The Bungaree Cemetery Trust identified that these people were not named on the grounds. They have now been given the dignity of being named and recognised as past members of our community. In a letter of thanks to the Bungaree Parish, Judy Wainewright, Bungaree Cemetery Trust Secretary, conveyed delight in the number of people who came and expressed their gratitude that the monument was placed there. She also thanked Julie Moran for her coordination between the Cemetery Trust and the Parish, and the Parish for including the blessing and unveiling of the plaque at the annual November Mass.

Thank you to Fr Justin for leading us in this beautiful celebration, the Parish Leadership Team and the Bungaree Cemetery Trust, who assisted in the organisation of the morning.

All are more than welcome to come and join us in November 2025.
