On Tuesday, March 24, many of the Grade 4 students at Siena Catholic Primary School gathered at St Patrick’s Cathedral to celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation in a truly reverent and prayerful way. It was a special milestone as they completed their first Examination of Conscience and experienced the grace of reconciliation. We were especially blessed to have our new bishop, Bishop Mark Freeman, celebrate the evening, along with Fr Jim, Fr Abraham and Fr Marcello.
It was a reverent and hope-filled occasion, marking the beginning of a sacred journey of faith. This rite is the first of three sacraments that children from our school, along with children from St Patrick’s Primary School, St Thomas More Primary School and St Columba’s Primary School, will receive throughout the year. Each step invites them more deeply into relationship with God and strengthens their sense of belonging within our Catholic community.
The Sacrament of Reconciliation is a moment to pause, reflect, and begin again. It is a time when we honestly look at our choices, say sorry for the times we have not lived as Jesus teaches, and open our hearts to God’s forgiveness.
At its heart, the Sacrament of Reconciliation is about healing and hope. It reminds us that everyone makes mistakes, but through God’s love, we are always given the chance to start fresh. It is an invitation to grow into kinder, more compassionate people, and to strengthen our relationship with God and with others.

Sincere thanks is extended to Lauren Davey for her thoughtful preparation of our students over recent weeks, and to Fr Ed Maloney for his ongoing support of our schools in nurturing Catholic Identity and Mission. Most importantly, we acknowledge and thank our families. The commitment to the Catholic tradition and partnership in faith formation are at the heart of this journey and very important. Together, we continue to guide our children with love, courage and faith.
We were incredibly proud of our students, their readiness to complete the sacrament and openness to God’s forgiveness and grace. Congratulations to: Max, Ari, Lorelai, Mary, London, Axl, Abel, Riley, Rupert, Hunter, Mackenzie and Jayce.
