Generosity Supports the Community with Over 1,700 Donations

St Mary’s Primary School Swan Hill has once again demonstrated the power of compassion and community spirit through its annual Vinnies Winter Appeal.

Over a two-week period, the students, families and staff of St Mary’s collected more than 1,700 non-perishable food items. These generous donations were delivered to St Vincent de Paul Society and the Swan Hill Food Hub, where they will provide much-needed support to families doing it tough this winter.

Rooted in Gospel values, the appeal encouraged students to live out the message of Jesus by showing love, kindness, and care for those in need. The school community was inspired by the values of compassion, service, and dignity for all, reminding everyone of the importance of putting faith into action.

Religious Education Leader Belinda Davies has said “Our students have embraced this opportunity to give with open hearts. It’s powerful to see them understand the impact of their actions and know they are making a real difference in our local community.”

The annual appeal not only provides vital supplies to those in need but also teaches young people the importance of empathy and social responsibility — values that sit at the heart of Catholic education.

As winter continues to bite, the warmth of the St Mary’s community is sure to be felt throughout Swan Hill thanks to their overwhelming generosity.
