Families and staff of St Mary’s Primary School, Clarkes Hill were advised of DOBCEL’s difficult decision to close the school at the end of the 2026 school year.
This decision has been made with great sadness following careful consideration of the school’s future enrolments, regulatory requirements and long-term viability.
We recognise this will be a deeply difficult time for Principal Clare Scanlon, the St Mary’s staff, students and families. Clare and her team have continued to lead their community with care, compassion and a strong focus on student and family wellbeing.
Catholic Education Ballarat will work closely with affected families as they consider schooling options for 2027, and staff will be supported to understand their options and future opportunities.
