Diocesan News
The Diocese of Ballarat welcomes Georgia McKenna as the new Safeguarding Coordinator.
Georgia has prepared a short introduction about herself to share with the diocese as below:
Hello everyone! My name is Georgia, and I am genuinely excited to be joining the Diocese and taking over from Michael Myers as your new Safeguarding Coordinator.
I am a Social Worker by trade, having completed my studies at RMIT University in 2019. Since then, my career has been focused on working with individuals and communities in critical situations, always prioritizing safety and protection. Over the years, I’ve gained valuable experience through roles at organisations like Lifeline and 1800RESPECT, where the work requires immense sensitivity and a commitment to crisis support.
Crucially, I spent a significant period at CAFS working in their court-mandated men’s behaviour change program. This experience provided me with a deep, specialised understanding of intervention and the structural work required to prevent harm and foster accountability. I am committed to leveraging this background to ensure our Diocese upholds the highest standards of safety and care for all members of our community. I truly look forward to meeting everyone and partnering with you in this vital work.
Outside of work, you might find me cheering on Richmond in the footy (Go the Tiges!), watching documentaries on Orcas, or seeking out the best local Vietnamese restaurant.
Please feel free to come and say hello when you are in the area!
