PRAYERS OF THE FAITHFUL

CELEBRANT: Jesus calls us to forgive as we ourselves are forgiven.  In that spirit let us pray for a new world of mercy and compassion.

 

LEADER:

We pray for an end to the hatreds feeding violence in our world, that the whole of humanity may know the peace of God’s reign.

We pray for nations infected with entrenched racism, that for justice’s sake they be healed of this destructive disease.

We pray for the peoples of Palestine and Israel, that a new era of mutual recognition and respect for human rights will dawn.

We pray for all institutions and agencies caring for children, that today’s Child Protection Sunday will mark their full implementation of safeguarding measures.

We pray for Australia, that the coronavirus pandemic will strengthen our determination to overcome the inequality and disadvantage it has exposed.

We pray for the unsung heroes of the COVID crisis, that their community service will be brought to light and justly appreciated.

We pray for all the victims of crime, that they will find a path of forgiveness that leads them to a new future.

We pray for our parish community, that we will grow strong in faith and gospel living in response to these challenging times.

God of all, you gladden our hearts with the beauty of your Creation.  May we always prove to be worthy stewards of your gift.

We pray for the areas in America suffering from the fires and heat wave.

We pray for the recently deceased Jack Lanigan, Gerald Butler, Beverley Garner, Petronella Van De Wouw, Marjory Godkin, Nell Carey, Dawn Billings and those whose anniversaries we honour Fathers John Russell & Claridge, Sylvie Watty, Bryan and Marcia Barmby, Francis & Mary Forrest, Michael Healy, Kathleen McGrath, Dennis Wilson, Sisters Isobel Murray and Audrey King, Margaret Beattie, Nell, Pat & John Glover, Paolo Pacheco Magno, Alizira Magno, Casilda Dacunha Pacheco Magno.

CELEBRANT: God of all kindness, your Son taught us to forgive each other without limit, just as you forgive us.  In your mercy help us to be channels of your peace.  We ask this through Christ our Lord.
