Prayers of the Faithful

CELEBRANT: Today we acclaim the loving reign of Christ over the whole of creation. Let us pray for his love to prevail in every human heart.

LEADER:

We pray for the hungry, that we will give freely of our plenty to feed the many who have too little to eat.

(Pause for silent prayer)

We pray for thirsty, that nations will unite in ensuring they have ready access to drinking water and sanitation.

We pray for the stranger, that in every land a spirit of welcome and hospitality will overcome hostility and suspicion.

(Pause for silent prayer)

Loving God, hear us                           R. Loving God, hear our prayer.

 

We pray for the naked, that economies driven by consumption will be converted to economies of inclusion and generosity.

(Pause for silent prayer)

Loving God, hear us                           R. Loving God, hear our prayer.

 

We pray for the sick, especially in countries overwhelmed by COVID-19, that they will be cared for with skill and compassion.

(Pause for silent prayer)

Loving God, hear us                           R. Loving God, hear our prayer.

 

We pray for those in prison, that they be treated humanely and be detained no longer that is just.

(Pause for silent prayer)

Loving God, hear us                           R. Loving God, hear our prayer.

 

We pray for the earth and all its creatures, that we will take all the steps we need to protect and care for it.

(Pause for silent prayer)

We pray for our parish, that we will be more and more a community of care, warmth and selfless service.

We pray for those who died recently deceased Ermelindo Soares, Clarrie Kenna, Margaret Therese Murray, Geoff Thomas, John McKay, Sister Kate McGrath RSM, Moira Burgi and for those whose anniversary of death occurs around this time, Allan Freeman, Noel Kelly, Nancy Ryan, Bishop O’Collins, Sisters Bernadette Nichols and Ellen Gleeson, John Newman, Kevin Healy.

CELEBRANT: Shepherding God, you have revealed your saving love for us in Jesus Christ.  Set our hearts free to practise a love like his.  We ask this through Christ our Lord.
