Prayers of the Faithful

CELEBRANT: It is always time for us to hear the Good News, turn to Jesus and follow him.  With faith in him let us pray for all our needs.

 

LEADER:

We pray for Pope Francis, that his loving care for the human family and for creation will inspire world leaders to serve in the same spirit.

We pray for the Catholic bishops and all religious leaders of the United States, that they will speak up with one voice for reconciliation, non-violence and public integrity.

We pray for nations still being devastated by COVID infections and deaths, that clear civic leadership allied with vaccination will deal effectively with the crisis.

We pray for local networks of people responding to climate change, that their grassroots efforts will encourage the whole community to ecological conversion.

(Pause for silent prayer)

We pray for our nation, that this year’s Australia Day will reflect a full and truthful account of its history and open the way to a future of justice and peace for all.

(Pause for silent prayer)

We pray for children, parents and teachers, that the new school year will be calm and fruitful from beginning to end.

We pray for all who are suffering from economic, mental or emotional distress as a result of the pandemic, that they will receive on-going support on their way to recovery.

We pray for our parish community, that we will take the message of Jesus to heart and live in the joy of the gospel.

We pray for the recently deceased Mary (Carmen) Hudson, Natalisia Soares Guterres, Anne Vogels, Wilma James, Toto, Maree O’Shanassy and for those whose anniversary of death occurs around this time Rachel O’Donohue, Noni Walsh, Bill Sinclair, Monsignors Galligan and Conway, Claire McCarthy, Mary Henry.
