Prayers of the Faithful

CELEBRANT: On this ANZAC Day and Good Shepherd Sunday, we look to Jesus, our leader in faith.  Let us pray in his name for the needs of our wounded world.

 

LEADER:

We pray for the members of all Christian churches.  May they become one faithful flock led by their Good Shepherd, Jesus Christ.

(Pause for silent prayer)

Loving God, hear us                           R. Loving God, hear our prayer.

 

We give thanks for all who have shepherded us in life: parents, teachers, pastors, friends and elders.  May their wisdom and love be a lasting blessing for us.

We pray for all defence and auxiliary personnel who have lost their lives in theatres of war, especially members of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps.  May they live forever in the peace that only Christ can give.

We pray for our children preparing for confirmation.  May they be blessed with deeper Faith in God’s Love for them and in our love for them.

We pray for all who are called to pastoral ministry.  May they serve their flock in the spirit of Jesus’ own selfless love.  We pray for vocations to Priesthood and Religious Life.

We pray for the recently deceased Christovao Ramiro Belo, Chris Sheedy and those whose anniversary of death occurs around this time Mary Atkinson, Fathers James Hyland, Gallagher, Grady and Martin O’Keeffe, Sister Irene Hoy, Cassie Boswell, Evelyn O’Sullivan, Andy and Ross Powell, Allan Trigg, Stephen Kelson.

CELEBRANT: God of mercy, by laying down his life Jesus your Son opened up the path of peace for us.  Make us true apostles of his peace.  We ask this through Christ our Lord.
