Socktober is, first and foremost, a means through which schools and students can celebrate World Mission Month in October. In the Socktober program, students are encouraged to “kick goals for kids in need” through the program, which features a six-module journey of learning and formation, packed with activities and resources, and a popular penalty shootout activity which can be held on a school’s mission day.
This year Catholic Mission’s Socktober program encourages schools to support the Arrupe Centre in Thailand through learning about mission and social justice. Soccer, the world game, is used to encourage students to learn more about the reality of living in other parts of the world.
Bishop Paul encourages schools and parishes to be involved.
